Why pray to Mary? Protestants always ask and never are satisfied.
Have we Catholics ever considered this prophetic verse, and furnish this answer from the bible?
Psalms 45:12 "And the daughter of Tyre [shall be there] with a gift; [even] the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour." (KJV).
Psalms 45:12 "the people of Tyre will sue your favor with gifts, the richest of the people." (RSV)
Isn't it prophetic that the rich (and poor) will seek the Queen's favour?
Psalm 45:2 pointing to the Messiah-King, proclaims that "God hath blessed thee for ever." cf. Luke 1:42, "blessed is the fruit of thy womb".
And we know the parallel verses of Mary, Luke 1:42 "Blessed art thou among women" (also Luke 1:28). "All generations shall call me blessed" (Luke 1:48). Since Mary is blessed above all, she certainly is most privileged beyond measure.
So, she deserves receiving prayers meant for the King?
But why should the mother of my Lord listen to me at all in the first place? Consider Luke 1:43, "And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?"
The answer must then be: She is also my mother! We are family!
Psalm 45:1 "...I sing my ode to the king" .
Just some meditations arising from the Pope's commentary on Psalm 45.
